Dressing up the Sasquatches

I love costume parties! It is just the combination of wearing something you would not normally wear and having to design a costume!  So, I guess it was only inevitable the Sukis should be dressed up too.

The Sasquatches are the first victims. :)

A friend asked me to make something to do with the sea for his girlfriend. At first, I was goign to make a crab donut, but after doing a sketch, I was not convinced that the design would work. After some thinking, the idea of dressing up something as a lobster came to mind and after a sketch, a Lobsquatch was born!

This may be the start of many Sasquatches being dressed in ridiculous outfits!

Shooting Lobsquatch Shadows

Capturing long Lobsquatch shadows just as the sun was setting.

Our living room is the perfect setting right now, for playing around with light and shadows from a setting sun. I wish to create some dramatic shots of the sukis with natural light. At the same time, I am learning more about my FujiFilm X20, a lovely little camera which I take with me everywhere!

Lobsquatch

Today was the first day I started sewing since we returned from holiday on Monday.

I started the day with admiring some of the fabrics I bought in Vancouver. I just love this frosted pink fur, and the green one with blue tips!

Unfortunately, with limited suitcase space, I took only half a meter of each of these. Now I wish I had gone for a meter of each. If my calculations are correct, I should be cable to make 5 Sasquatches in each colour. Booooo.... :(

The top three fabrics are designed by my friend, Georgina, in LA.  I was lucky to steal some from her. They are just lovely!!!

Georgina and Iki kindly let us stay with them during out time in LA. There is so much to report on about our two week sin California, I do not even know where to begin! Will have to tackle that another day, in multiple parts, I think!

After some fabric prepping, to get back in the swing of things, I decided to try out something new. A Sasquatch in a lobster costume. I like to call this mixture, a Lobsquatch! :D

For the first attempt, I think he turned out well, although I would like to add a couple of extra details to the next batch.

Now I'm hooked on playing dress-up with the Sasquatches and cannot wait to start making other costumes for them! My brain is exploding with different costumes ideas!!!

Working on Aqua Kitty

I had the pleasure of meeting Dugan from Tikipod, the creator of Aqua Kitty!

Meeting Dugan!

My task was to make three Aqua Kitty Engineers.

This has to be one of the hardest commissions I have worked on so far!

Completely enjoying the space in the new studio!

The Aqua Kitties are made of many separate parts that are hand sewn together - paws, feet, arms, legs, whiskers, zip and hammer.
