Suki Bee Donut

Suki Bee Donut

Suki Bee Donut

Suki Ladybug Donut

It may have looked bright and Springy, but it was freezing! After the little photo shoot, my hands were frozen and I regretted not wearing my coat!

The plan was the have the stripes going horizontally but the fabric stretches with the lines going vertical. After much deliberation, I followed the stretch of the fabric and had the lines going vertical.

The wings are made with fleece and has little swirls to give more detail.

Will have to add a butterfly donut to this collection ...

Dalmation Donut

My friend Carley, has a beautiful Dalmatian called Luna. She asked if I could make a Luna donut.   And here they are together. Apparenly Luna would not sit still and kept going for the donut, that is why the photo is blurry :) Thanks Carley for the photo!

Luna and her Luna Donut

For Claire

Very sadly, an old classmate of mine died of Cancer a few weeks ago and I went to her funeral last Tuesday. It was the first funeral I have been to, and it was also one of the saddest moments I have ever experienced.

The Saturday before the funeral, Laura organised to meet in the park and release balloons for Claire. It was so emotional, but such a lovely thing to do. I had had three balloons to start off with but I was silly enough to leave the balloons in the black plastic bag, in the porch and it was really sunny that day! As I was getting ready two of the balloons exploded in the heat! Luckily I had one left...

Claire Gibson was in my class throughout my secondary years at at Harold Hill Community School. I lost touch with everyone at school after I left for University so I cannot say I was close to Claire but almost all of my school memories have Claire in them. We actually argued a lot and we even had a fight which involved a lot of hair pulling! School would not have been the same without Claire.

Two years ago we reunited to help Claire with her last wishes. It was lovely to see Claire and everyone else. It was so strange but exciting to see so many of my school friends after so many years!

And only last week, we gathered again to say goodbye to Claire.

So this post is dedicated to my old friend Claire. xxx

Ladybug Donuts

I have seen the fluffy red faux fur with black spots for a while now. But only recently did it think about trying something out with it. I have made a Suki Ladybug before, but it was with teddy bear fleece and I sewed on the black spots myself. I had not yet tried making a Ladybug donut before, so here is what they look like :)

Until I have exhausted all possibilities for donuts expect to see more variations!

A wrapping and packing day

I had some Suki packs to post today.

I also decided to take photos of each pack that is for sale. So I will be slowly listing up the Naked Suki Packs again. This monster one can be found in my Etsy store.

Making Captain Amercica with a Naked Suki Pack

Captain America
Today's mission was to make Captain America with one of my packs.

No sewing machine required, just a needle and thread and some fabric glue and wire cutters.

Naked Suki Pack

The belt:
1. Cut a strip of the white fabric and lots of little red strips

2. Glue all the red strips in place

3. Trim off the edges and fold the belt inwards and glue in place. This gives the belt a tidy finish.

 4. The suit.

5. Outline Suki shape and sew the sides, from the inside. Leave a bit of space for the arms.

6. Cut out the  part to fit the legs and sew it up.

 7. The sleeves. Glue the red, white and blue together.

 8. Outline the arms and sew them from the inside.

9. Make two

10. Invert them and place on your Suki.

11. The boots. Add the red boots to the suit. Cut out the boots and sew them up first, then attach them to the suit, sewing from the inside.

12. Sew the sleeves, from the outside, to the suit, to make it all one piece.

 14. Now for the belt.

 15. Close the belt with a couple of stitches.

 16. Using the white felt, cut a little star out. I had several attempts, hence the little pile of cut white felt.

 17. The mask. Outline the head and sew around, leaving space for the horns.

 18. Invert the mask and carefully cut out holes for the eyes.

19. Make horns and sew them on, from the inside or the outside. I stitched them from the outside, to ensure the best fit.

 20. The little white wings. Cut out the wings from the white felt and stitch them on to the mask.

21. And cut out a capital ''A'' and stick it in the center of the mask.

TADA! Captain America!

21. Just one final touch  - a comic word made from felt and pipe cleaners. Cut out the letters, and make the base spikey. Fold the pipe cleaners to follow the shape of the base and cut with wire clippers.

ZAP!
